Thunderbird Appoints Its First Distribution Sales Director

Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc. (TSXV:TBRD, OTC:THBRF) (Thunderbird or the Company) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nelson Huynh to the role of Director, Distribution Sales.

Huynh will license Thunderbird’s animated and live-action kids series from Atomic Cartoons and primetime scripted series from Thunderbird to broadcasters, streamers and other media outlets with a focus on EMEA, Latin America and Asia. Reporting to Richard Goldsmith, President of Global Distribution and Consumer Products, he will also work to secure commissions, presales and co-productions for new series from Thunderbird’s animated, scripted and unscripted (Great Pacific Media) series production divisions. And Huynh will represent Thunderbird Distribution at major global media markets, beginning with MIPJUNIOR and MIPCOM, which take place in Cannes, France, from October 15-20, 2022.

In this newly created role, Huynh will draw on his sales experience and global industry network, primarily cultivated during his tenure at market-leading international B2B kids and family information brand, Kidscreen, owned by Brunico Communications.

“Like many others in the industry, I have worked with Nelson for several years and have been impressed by his sales acumen and his kind and smart approach to clients,” said Goldsmith. “He is exactly the type of talent that we were looking for to join our growing team as we continue to build our production slate and undertake more third-party distribution opportunities.”

“Thunderbird has an impressive library of TV series ranging from the hit primetime comedy Kim’s Convenience to the animated The Last Kids on Earth, based on the wildly popular book series,” said Huynh. “And with more on the way, I can’t wait to dig in and expand the global reach of these series. I am beyond excited to join Thunderbird Distribution.”

Huynh will be based in Toronto. He previously served as Associate Publisher at Kidscreen, where he oversaw all sales and sponsorship activity for the multi-million-dollar brand, expanding its client base and managing long-term relationships. Prior to moving to Canada in 2014, he held various positions in media sales in his native Australia.

In 2021, Thunderbird established its Distribution and Consumer Products division to partner with its production companies to increase company-owned intellectual property, expand content sales around the world, and establish consumer brands. And most recently, Thunderbird Distribution acquired global media rights for the ultra-cute live-action preschool series, Mittens & Pants produced by Windy Isle Entertainment, that’s slated to bow later this fall on CBC Kids in Canada and Sky Kids in the UK.
