Thunderbird Entertainment is building momentum for Mermicorno: Starfall (26 x 22 minutes), the latest 2D-animated series in the pipeline at its Atomic Cartoons studio.
Consumer products division Thunderbird Brands has appointed Nelvana Enterprises as the IP’s Canadian licensing agent for all major product segments except toys and publishing. These categories fall under two pre-existing deals—Jazwares has already been tapped as global master toy partner, and a master publishing licensee is secured but not announced yet.
Meanwhile, Thunderbird Distribution has closed several fresh TV and streaming deals ahead of Mermicorno: Starfall’s 2025 debut on Max in the US. WBD has acquired the toon for Cartoon Network in Latin America and Southeast Asia, and Max will also stream the series in LatAm and the Caribbean. Canada’s Corus Entertainment has picked it up for Treehouse, TELETOON+ and STACKTV in 2025, as has Narrative Entertainment for its POP linear net/VOD service (airdate TBD).
Mermicorno: Starfall is based on the Mermicorno characters created by LA-based retailer tokidoki, which launched a range of collectibles, apparel and accessories based on the IP in 2015. The series targets five- to nine-year-olds with a premise about unicorn-mermaid creatures who must save their ocean home from an evil threat known as Ika Inkblot.
